The Little Prince

Last weekend, we went with Matt's parents and brother to see the Lipizzaner Horses perform which was really fun. They are such beautiful creatures. During our visit, Beth gave this book to Matt and I. She knows how much we love books (and children's books especially, for me). This is a 1943 (!) edition of the book that she's had since 1968. The best part is she wrote a really sweet inscription to us and had underlined some of her favorite parts when she first got the book. I'm excited to re-read this classic that I haven't looked at in ages.

24 weeks

Well, I am really feeling pregnant now! Over the past month, my belly has really popped. Still feeling really good though, other than some lower back pain when I sit in uncomfortable chairs for too long. I'm getting my first prenatal massage this Saturday so I'm hoping that will help.

I am feeling the baby kick every day which is so fun. I might change my tune towards the end of my pregnancy but for now it's a really fun reminder that there's a little guy inside of me hanging out! Matt got to feel a kick for the first time on 7.28 which was really exciting.

I had a check up on 7.20 and everything looks and sounds as it should, phew. My next appointment is on 8.17 and I'm starting to rotate through the other midwives so I'll be meeting with someone new. After my next appointment, I start going every two weeks! The second half of this pregnancy is really flying by.

20 Weeks on the 4th of July

California baby

We just got back about a week ago from our trip to California- it was amazing! So relaxing and rejuvenating to see my family and enjoy the lovely and non-humid California weather. Here I am on our first day:

We had the much-anticipated mid-pregnancy ultrasound appointment on June 22nd. We were so excited and anxious to get a look at our baby and find out if we were having a boy or girl! Our ultrasound technician was great, she explained what we were looking at and that everything looked totally normal (phew!). She saved the big news for the very end. I was shocked! Somehow I had convinced myself we were having a girl. We are both totally thrilled though and the vision of our family just became a little more clear:)

We had a follow-up appointment with our midwife right afterwards and she confirmed that everything looked great and his growth is right on track, I think she said 54th percentile. Now that we know we're having a boy we get to think about fun things like names and our registries!
